A personal Blender project focused on building a cinematic interior scene
with neon lighting, dark atmosphere, material studies and spatial composition.
Context
Poolhouse Arcade is a personal 3D project I created in Blender to practise
building a complete interior scene. I wanted to explore how lighting,
materials and composition can create a specific mood inside a digital space.
Visual Direction
The scene is inspired by dark arcade rooms, neon lighting and cinematic
interior photography. The goal was to create a space that feels atmospheric,
slightly mysterious and visually rich, while still being readable as a room.
A key reference for the atmosphere was a complete room scene with an arcade
machine. I used this as inspiration for the lighting setup, material choices
and overall composition: a dark environment with glowing light sources,
reflective surfaces and a strong focal point.
Process
I experimented with the placement of the arcade machine, the poolhouse setting,
neon accents and camera angle. I focused on balancing the darker parts of the
room with coloured light, so the scene would feel cinematic instead of flat.
Material settings were also important. I explored how different surfaces react
to light, especially in a darker scene where reflections and glow can define the
mood of the space.
Outcome
The final render presents a complete 3D room with an arcade machine, designed
around atmosphere, lighting and composition. This project helped me practise
scene building in Blender and understand how small visual choices can change the
feeling of a digital environment.
